President's Letter

A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Amazingly the summer months are coming to a close and we are gearing up for busy season in the NPBCDA.  This year we have planned meetings and events focused primarily on social activities for the dentists in our community.  In talking with many of you, it has become clear that we all have numerous opportunities for continuing education through dental meetings, study clubs, and corporate events.  Over the past few years our association has seen good member attendance at our social gatherings, but dwindling numbers at CE focused meetings.  After listening to your comments, we have restructured this year’s events to entice members to join us at our gatherings.  Towards this effort, our meetings will be held at different hotspot locations throughout our community and the cost per meeting has been reduced.

As a professional organization we will be having one of our meetings devoted to CE.  This year, our February gathering will be dedicated to the newest bleaching products and techniques.  We anticipate having many of the top companies in the field present for hands on demonstrations of the latest in this exciting aspect of cosmetic dentistry.  We will also be once again be hosting a charitable event in January, “New Smiles For The New Year”, to help children and families in need. To help raise money to host this event, we have organized a fundraiser. This event will take place Thursday, November 12th, at a place we all know and are fond of, Rooney’s Public House in Jupiter. The event will run from 7-9:30pm, with live music and “local celebrity” bartenders. The event is free and open to the public, all that is need is your attendance and willingness to enjoy an evening out. The NPBCDA will be calling for volunteers as the time approaches.

During these hard economic times, we as dentists are all in the same boat dealing with similar issues.  The NPBCDA is our local network of friends and colleagues that continues to be the common thread between us.  I ask that you not only renew your membership, but attend our gatherings.  I look forward to seeing you all at our events and am always available to answer any questions you may have.

Lee R. Cohen, D.D.S., M.S., M.S.
President 2009-2010
